What To Do About Scratched Disney DVDs

I don't know about your house, but if it is anything like mine then you have lots of DVDs for your kiddos......specifically Disney DVDs.  It doesn't seem to matter how careful you are, these DVDs end up with unexplained scratches.  That, of course, causes the DVD to be a huge annoyance to watch.  With scratches the DVDs will not play a smooth continuous movie.
Some of my girls FAVORITE movies are the ones that end up with the most scratches.  So, I wanted to figure out a way to fix this problem.  I have found a few suggestions about how to "fix" the disc at home, but I've gotta be completely honest........I haven't tried these DIY fixes for a few reasons but mostly because there always seems to be more important chores & things to take care of.  So the scratched discs get pushed to the back burner & forgotten.  Then I don't remember that I need to fix the disc until my girls ask to watch the movie again & of course, it won't play.
I was super excited a couple of weeks ago to see a pin on Pinterest about having your scratched Disney DVDs replaced for a small fee.  So, I quickly started in on the research.  It was easy to find & I had my girls get 3 movies that we knew were scratched & I told them we would try this program.  So, following the instructions on the website (I'll include the link at the bottom of this post), we got our DVDs ready to send in.  Then we took them to the local post office & sent them on their way.  My girls started off very impatient.......daily asking when their movies would be back.  I had told them 2-3 weeks.......I wanted them to understand that it would not be immediate.  Imagine our surprise when about a week & a half after mailing our movies, we went to our mailbox & found this............
In less time than I expected they sent us brand new, sealed replacements for the 3 movies we sent in.  My girls are beyond excited.  And so am I.  From now on when we watch our movies if we come across one that is scratched, we place it in a stack & I plan to mail them in 2 or 3 at a time.  There is a fee per disc involved.......$6.95 for DVDs & $8.95 for blueray discs.  In my opinion, well worth it!!!  If you have scratched Disney DVDs, I would highly recommend that you check into doing this!!!  We will definitely be saving this website & utilizing it again!!!
